Download mIRC. http://mirc.com/get.html
Run the installer and follow the installation procedure.
Run mIRC and fill in your details in the popup window, click ok.
In the window with the box at the bottom, click inside the box and type /server home.n00bstories.com and press Enter.
You will see a bunch of text scroll up. When it stops, type /join #TiberianDawn. You will now be in the #TiberianDawn channel. Be sure to read the rules:

IRC Rules

The following step is optional, but recommended if you're going to be a regular visitor to IRC.
Now type /ns register PASSWORD EMAIL. Change "PASSWORD" to a password of your choosing, and change "EMAIL" to your email address. You only need to do that command once. The next time you connect to the IRC server, "NickServ" will ask you to identify yourself. You can do this by typing /ns identify PASSWORD. Password is the same password you used in the beginning of this step.

If you want to learn more commands and basics about IRC, you can press F1 or type /help in the window.

When you want to join the channel again, just follow steps 4 and 5 (but don't type /ns register PASSWORD EMAIL again), and you’ll be back in the discussions.
